Server Racks
A server rack is used to mount a computer that is dedicated to be used as a server. Server racks come in many configurations – two post racks, four post racks or self enclosed locking cabinets. The rack is equipped with rack rails which allow the mounting of multiple hardware units. These are secured in place with rack screws, sometimes using cage nuts.
Each rack may contain a number of servers, or other computer components, stacked one above the other. This makes for a more efficient use of floor space and also simplifies cabling. An equipment rack filled with many computer components generates a significant amount of heat so a special cooling system or fans may be necessary.
